Tracing your Highland Family Tree (Week)
This holiday has been specially designed to provide you with expert guidance on researching your Highland ancestors and their lives. Special research sessions (with expert assistance) in the Highland Council's Archives, Genealogy and Library facilities in Inverness are combined with guided visits to key locations which help explain the context of Highland emigration in the 18th and 19th Centuries.

This holiday is designed for people who know that they have one or more ancestors who lived in the Highlands of Scotland (ie Inverness-shire, Badenoch and Strathspey, Nairnshire, Lochaber, Ross and Cromarty, Sutherland or Caithness). We will ask you to complete a short questionnaire outlining what you know of your Highland family tree to ensure that the holiday will be useful for you and to allow Highland Council's Archives and Genealogy Service to prepare for your visit in advance. This break is suitable for anyone interested in researching their Highland family tree - no previous knowledge or experience is needed. At outdoor locations, little walking is involved. Wheelchair access is generally not a problem, although it is not possible to take wheelchairs all around the site at Rossal because of the terrain. Please bring waterproof jacket and shoes/boots suitable for walking on short stretches of field or moorland. General Information A week-long Highland Clearances Trail holiday and weekend Introduction to Local History Research break are also available. Price £650 per person (single room supplement: £70). Includes all accommodation, meals, tour transport, admissions, expert help and guidance from the Highland Council's Archives, Genealogy and Library on research days (including all reasonable research-related photocopying), and the services of a knowledgeable local tour leader.
